Kahja interviews Christine Farren
Farmers markets are the lifeblood of the fresh, seasonal food scene California is known for, and few markets combine farm fresh produce, community, small business, and history like the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market at the historic landmark Ferry Building in San Francisco, led by Foodwise and Executive Director Christine Farren!
This week, Kahja talks with Christine about putting on one of the largest farmers markets in the Bay every Saturday, Foodwise's mission of supporting small businesses through equitable access to brand building resources, engaging the next generation through programs centering early exploration of food, why partnering with small farmers is a multi-pronged win, volunteers as the frontline of the market experience, sustainable farming beyond just what's being grown, and how farmers market bridge the gap between urban residents and the rural economy.
