Episode Notes

With her reach spanning law, education, art, social justice, food, and hospitality, Jocelyn Jackson has made a career of shaking the table across disciplines, advocating globally for people's experience around food, both access and culture, and despite recently wrapping up her role as Chef-in-Residence at San Francisco's MOAD (Museum of the African Diaspora), she's just getting started. As co-founder of The People's Kitchen Collective, Jocelyn is part of a their new documentary, "Earthseed: A People's Journey of Radical Hospitality," all about communities creating sustainability and care, both for and among themselves.

This week, Kahja and Jocelyn talk about progress not being stopped by change, inheriting a legacy of social responsibility, founding organizations that examine the layered experiences of food in Black & brown spaces, keeping the global impact and history of our foodways top of mind, the political weaponry and hypocrisy around food in the current societal landscape, expectations of fairness in social justice, moving from minority to majority, and the power of working as a collective.
